Investment Rewarded at Murdeduke.

After investing heavily in their Angus program over the last eleven years, last Tuesdays Murdeduke Angus annual bull sale saw three records tumble. A record number of bidders registered, a new top price of $13500 was set, along with a new record auction average of $6042.

“The sale has capped off an exciting year for us starting with the purchase of Te Mania Emperor for an Australasian record price, the sale of the autumn calving portion of our herd to studs in NSW, Victoria and South Australia and now an excellent bull sale result,” commented Stud advisor Simon Falkiner .

Lot 3 Murdeduke Federate F86 with his out cross pedigree, sired by Merridale Certain Gold, a Boyd on Target son, will be making his way down to Tasmania for stud duties at Ferdie Fosters Rosedale Stud Campbell Town.

Peter Groves, Charles Stewart and Co Colac purchased the bull on behalf of Rosedale Angus. Federates impressive growth and weight for age 852 kilograms at 21 months combined with his excellent structural correctness caught Mr Groves eye. His balanced EBV’s – positive fat’s with good growth and carcass numbers completed the package.

First time buyer and local stud, Daelreom Angus, Mt Mercer secured lot 18 Murdeduke Facsimile, a son of the much sort after sire Bando 9074, for the second highest price of the day $12000. Facsimile gave Daelreom Angus the frame and shape they were looking for along with an outstanding set of numbers. 3.9 Birth Weight to 113 600 day weight with positive fats and 1.9 for IMF.

On the commercial front first time buyers Naringal Station, Wallinduc set the pace securing seven bulls for an average of $6666. They were buying for their recently acquired Angus herd of 250 cows and were looking for confirmation, performance data and type. Hugh Rahles-Rahbula, Year Estate Leslie Manor provided stiff competition to Naringal taking home three bulls to $9500, av $8000. They will be added to bulls purchased last year at Murdeduke and joined to their herd of 400 Hereford cows.

Long time client Geoff Lavender, Barongarook kicked the sale off well purchasing Lot 1 for $10500 the first of a number of Ardrossan A241 sons that sold well and exhibited good birth to growth figures and shape. In his nineteenth year of buying at Murdeduke Joe Flyn, Winchelsea added two bulls to his herd for an $6000 average.

Colin Jones, Bill Wyndam & Co Bairnsdale lead the charge from Gippsland securing bulls for the Hayden families Buchan Station and Chris Wheeler’s Buchan South herd. Other bulls to head to Bairnsdale were three bulls to $3500 account Nungurner Hill Pty Ltd and return client Mrs Norma Belcher secured two bulls for her Woodside property.
